Taos is a lifestyle,
a year-round resort where every season has
something special to offer. Desert
Oak is the ideal place to rest after winter skiing at Taos
Ski Valley in the mountains or a summer rafting adventure
through the Rio
Grande Gorge. It is your private base camp for excursions into the
surrounding National Forest for camping,
fishing, hiking, horseback riding, llama
trekking, cross-country skiing, and climbing.
You will be at the center of this region's
cultural events such as Native American
ceremonies in the 800 year old Taos
Pueblo, the annual Taos Talking Pictures Film Festival, and the
Spring and Fall Arts Festivals. Desert Oak
offers the comfort and seclusion that only
a private residence can provide. Relax and
enjoy. Experience all of the cultural and
recreational pleasures of Taos just as full
time residents do, from this quiet and secure
haven. Desert Oak is just two blocks from
the historic Town Plaza, surrounded by
bookshops, restaurants, and galleries featuring
Native American, Hispanic, and contemporary
arts, crafts, and antiques. The renowned Taos
Inn, Kit Carson Park, the library, the town pool The
Fechin Institute, and the Convention Center; the site of numerous
professional meetings and symposia, are closer
yet. The famous San
Francisco de Asis Church,
painted by Georgia O'Keefe and photographed
by many, is down the road in Ranchos de Taos.
A car won't be necessary since an airport
shuttle drops you off and picks you up at
Desert Oak's door, and a bus that accesses
the entire town stops just one block away.
