Desert Oak was slated for demolition when I purchased it in 1996. The home was gutted and rebuilt [ new roof, which enabled me to put in 6 skylights, new plumbing, new electrical, actually new everything ] so you get the charm of an old adobe but the conveniences of a new one. I designed it in keeping with traditional southwest detailing and materials, though I gave it a slightly contemporary edge.
